2019 Central Region Midget AAA Championship Recap – Thursday, Apr. 4

Two tied games from the day have left the rankings tight heading into the final day of round robin play. Currently the North Bay Trappers, Elgin Middlesex Chiefs and the Toronto Young Nationals all sit with six points, while the Clarington Toros, Pembroke Lumber Kings and the Kingston Jr. Frontenacs all sit within one point of each other for the fourth qualifying position.

Elgin Middlesex Chiefs 6, Pembroke Lumber Kings 1

·         Connor Olson was good for two of Elgins goals, while Pembroke’s Mason McTavish defeated Mailloux’ chance at a shutout.

Kingston Jr. Frontenacs 3, North Bay Trappers 3

·         Kingston and North Bay traded back and forth with special teams goals, and ultimately ended in a draw.

Toronto Young Nationals 2, Clarington Toros 2

·         Ryan Mansfield scored both of the Young Nats goals, however neither team was able to out score the other – resulting in a close 2-2 game.

The winner of the Central Region Midget AAA Championship will move on to represent the Central Region at the 2019 TELUS Cup, the Canada’s National Midget Championship, happening on April 22-29, 2019 at the Fort William Gardens in Thunder Bay, Ontario.
