Bantam AAA All-Ontario and Central Region Midget AAA Championships Under a Month Away

We are now just under one month away from the Bantam AAA All-Ontario and Central Region Midget AAA Championships, being held in the Ontario Hockey Federation in early April.

The Clarington Zone Hockey Association of the Ontario Minor Hockey Association (OMHA) will be hosting the Central Region Midget AAA Championship, while the Toronto Titans of the Greater Toronto Hockey League (GTHL) will be hosting the Bantam AAA All-Ontario Championship. This year, the Peewee AAA All-Ontario Championship is being held in Hockey Eastern Ontario.

“The coaching staff has had its eye set on hosting the Central Region Midget AAA Championship for a few years and the team was thrilled to find out we were selected. This also comes with a huge responsibility to ice a competitive team, provide a first-class tournament for all the young athletes competing and ensure these memories last a lifetime,” said Ian Smith, host committee chair for the Central Region Midget AAA Championship. “As this tournament will set the stage for the Central Region representative at the Telus Cup National Midget Hockey Championship hosted in Thunder Bay, we expect fierce competition all week here at Garnet B. Rickard Recreation Complex and hope the local fans come out to support our team as these players attempt to accomplish something truly special.”

The Central Region Midget AAA Championship, which is part of the Road to the TELUS Cup, sees champions from the OHF’s four minor Members (the Minor Hockey Alliance of Ontario, the Greater Toronto Hockey League, the Northern Ontario Hockey Association and the Ontario Minor Hockey Association), the HEO champion and the host team, make up the field for the six-team event.

Looking to the All-Ontario Championships, these are the pinnacle events for AAA Peewee and Bantam hockey teams, bringing together the champions from each of the OHF, HEO and HNO, along with the host team.

“The Toronto Titans are very excited to be hosting the 2019 Bantam AAA All-Ontario Championship. While this will be the first time the Toronto Titans organization host, we are working to ensure that it will be remembered as one of the best,” said Eric Cella, host committee chair for the Bantam AAA All-Ontario Championship and GM of the Titans. “We look forward to being part of a great event with the best Bantam teams in the Province.”

The All-Ontario ‘Bantam AAA’ Championship will run from April 1 – 5, 2019 at the Herbert H. Carnegie Centennial Centre, while the Central Region Midget AAA Championship will take place on April 1 – 7, 2019 at the Garnet B. Rickard Recreation Complex. Schedules and participating teams will be announced shortly, tickets and event passes can be purchased for games at the door.
