The Ontario Hockey Federation (OHF) along with Hockey Northwestern Ontario (HNO) are pleased to announce the host locations for the 2017 All-Ontario and Central Region AAA Championships: the Don Mills Flyers, Thunder Bay Minor Hockey Association (TBMHA) and Sudbury Minor Hockey Association (SMHA).
The All-Ontario Championships are the pinnacle events for AAA Peewee and Bantam hockey teams, bringing together the champions from each of the OHF, HNO, and Hockey Eastern Ontario (HEO), along with the host team. The Don Mills Flyers are hosting the All-Ontario Peewee AAA Championship from April 3-7, 2017. The All-Ontario Bantam AAA Championship will be in Thunder Bay starting March 27, running until March 31, 2017.
“Hockey Northwestern Ontario and our region look forward to the opportunity to host the top Bantam AAA teams in the province in Thunder Bay, we look forward to a great week of hockey,” says HNO President, Glenn Timko.
The Central Region Midget AAA Championship, part of the Road to the TELUS Cup, runs from March 27-April 2, 2017. Champions from the OHF’s four minor Member Partners (Minor Hockey Alliance of Ontario (ALLIANCE), Greater Toronto Hockey League (GTHL), Northern Ontario Hockey Association (NOHA), and Ontario Minor Hockey Association (OMHA)), HEO, and host team, make up the field for the six-team event. The HNO participates in the West Region at the midget AAA level.
“The OHF is pleased to once again be hosting the Central Region Midget AAA Championship as this year is particularly special, with Sudbury set to host the TELUS Cup in 2018,” says Tony Foresi, OHF President. “The AAA Championships highlight the extremely high level of hockey in our province from north, south, east, and west. It is a privilege to not only earn a spot at these tournaments, but also the right to host one.”
The Peewee, Bantam, and Midget AAA Championships are rotated through the Branches on a yearly basis. The host association is selected from applications submitted by the Branch or Member Partner.
