The Waterloo Wolves are your 2026 U18AAA Central Region Champions — and they’re headed to the TELUS Cup.
In a gold medal game that delivered everything you could ask for, the Waterloo Wolves defeated the North Shore Whitecaps 5–4 in overtime to capture the Championship and punch their ticket to the national stage.
From the opening puck drop, both teams traded chances in a fast-paced, high-intensity matchup worthy of a final. The Whitecaps showed resilience throughout, answering back time and time again to keep the game deadlocked and force overtime in front of an electric crowd.
But championship moments belong to teams that rise in the biggest moments — and Waterloo did exactly that.
In overtime, the Wolves capitalized seven seconds into the extra frame on their opportunity, burying the game-winner to seal a dramatic 5–4 victory and ignite celebrations on home ice. It was a fitting finish to a remarkable week of U18AAA hockey, showcasing the depth, determination, and elite-level talent on display all tournament long.
Throughout the Championship, Waterloo demonstrated poise under pressure, balanced scoring, and timely goaltending — the hallmarks of a team built for this moment. Their ability to respond in key situations ultimately proved to be the difference when it mattered most.
Congratulations to the Waterloo Wolves on an unforgettable performance and a well-earned U18AAA Central Region Championship.
Next stop: the TELUS Cup.
Ontario will be proudly represented on the national stage.
