Men’s Hockey game play commences tomorrow morning at the 2020 Ontario Winter Games in Orillia.
Competing in men’s hockey will be the London Jr. Knights (ALLIANCE), Thunder Bay Kings (HNO), Toronto Marlboros (GTHL), Niagara North Stars (OMHA), Soo Jr. Greyhounds (NOHA), Upper Canada Cyclones (HEO), Toronto Jr. Canadiens (GTHL) and the Ajax-Pickering Raiders (OMHA).
All eight teams will play two games on Friday, with an 8 a.m. Ajax-Picker Raiders and Soo Jr. Greyhounds match-up starting off the festivities.
Occurring every two years, the OWG delivers a multi-sport experience for youth – welcoming 3500 athletes, coaches, officials and dignitaries to compete in 27 sports. The men’s hockey event will welcome the most competitive teams from the Ontario Hockey Federation’s Minor Members (Minor Hockey Alliance of Ontario, Greater Toronto Hockey League, Ontario Minor Hockey Association and Northern Ontario Hockey Association), and one representative from Hockey Eastern Ontario, as well as Hockey Northwestern Ontario.
Preliminary game play runs through to the afternoon of Feb 29, with the semi-finals happening later that evening. The top four teams will then compete for Bronze, Silver and Gold medals on Mar 1. All games will be played at the Rama MASK Arena.
